چکیده

The aim of this study was to complete research on the porphyrogenic effect of hexabrombenzene (HBB) and tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBP-A). Experiments were performed on female Wistar rats. The examined compounds were administered in sunflower oil intragastrically in 3 doses. The determination of porphyrins in tissues was carried out by means of high-performance liquid chromatography. Repeated HBB administration caused a 3-8 times increase of total concentration of high carboxylated porphyrins (octaand heptacarboxyporphyrins). The concentrations of these porphyrins were significantly lower in the liver of rats exposed to tBBp-a. however, in the kidneys significant alterations in porphyrins concentrations concerned only HBB.

Toxicopathological examinations after repeated intraperitoneal administration of silver nanoparticles in the Wistar rat model

Objective(s): Due to wide range of medical applications as bactericidal agents, nanosilver particles (NSPs) are manufactured worldwide in large quantities. However, potential toxicity impacts of NSPs in humans and animals still remain poorly understood. The objective of this study was to investigate clinical observations, mortality and pathological changes in rats follow...

Effect of repeated administration of hexabromobenzene and 1,2,4,5-tetrabromobenzene on the levels of selected cytochromes in rat liver.

OBJECTIVES Hexabromobenzene (HBB) is a flame retardant, which added to polymers, plastics, textiles, wood or paper, decreases the amount of carbon monoxide and heat release during fire. HBB is also formed as a result of decabromodiphenyl oxide pyrolysis or natural decabromobiphenyl ether debromination as the effect of photolysis. 1,2,4,5-Tetrabromobenzene (1,2,4,5-tetraBB) is a compound formed ...

Acute toxicity investigation regarding clinical and pathological aspects following repeated oral administration of iron oxide nanoparticles in rats

Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPS) have potential different applications in nanomedicine. These new applications of IONPS have raised exposure risk of this nanomaterials to humans. Up to now, all aspects of IONPS toxicity are not fully clear following animal’s exposure with these novel compounds. This study aimed to investigate the acute toxicity effects of IONPS in laboratory animals regarding p...

COMPARISON OF THE PATTERN OF DIST RI BUTION OF AFLATOXIN B 1 METABOLITES IN ADULT AND NEWBORN RATS

Recently we have reported that newborn rats are deficient in the key enzymes involved in the biotransformation of aflatoxin Bl (AFBl), a known hepatocarcinogen. Based on these data, in vivo experiments were carried out in order to investigate the bioavailability of this carcinogen in newborn rat tissues. Administration of a single dose (i. p.) of [3HlAFB 1 to groups of adult and neonatal r...

Comparison of Memory Impairment and Oxidative Stress Following Single or Repeated Doses Administration of Scopolamine in Rat Hippocampus

Introduction: Scopolamine, a muscarinic cholinergic receptor antagonist, is widely used to induce memory impairment in experimental animals. The present study aims to compare memory impairment and oxidative stress following single and repeated doses administration of scopolamine. Methods: A group of rats received a single shot of scopolamine in different doses (0.5, 1, or 3 mg/kg, IP) 24 hours...
